Nurse Practitioner-Centralized Eligibility and Appeals Team (CEAT)
The incumbent is assigned to the VISN within the Caregiver Support Program (CSP), which provides a state-of-the-art continuum of services, education and resources to caregivers of Veterans with complex needs. As a member of the VISN Centralized Eligibility and Assessment Team (CEAT), the incumbent has the responsibility for expert knowledge of eligibility criteria for the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC), day-to-day operation of the program, and all reporting requirements within the assigned VISN. The incumbent performs a wide range of services, collaborating with inter-professional CEAT members to make eligibility determinations, level of care determinations, discharges, and appeals for the PCAFC. Uses clinical judgment in the interpretation of trends and patterns; application of regulation, policy, guidelines; and the recommendation of program enhancements. The Registered Nurse is significant to the success of a high-performing, high reliability CEAT, as the nurse is at the heart of Veteran-driven care and plays a crucial role in the facilitation of prescribed medication and treatment, care coordination, advocacy, and education. The incumbent's training in assessment and monitoring, health restoration, wellness promotion, illness prevention, and coping facilitation are crucial to the CEAT's case review. The Nurses' knowledge of disease management, special diet plans and medical conditions, medication administration, self-care completion, and caregiver education helps ensure CEAT clinical determinations are accompanied by comprehensive, whole health care plan recommendations, for the Veteran's facility healthcare team to consider for safe and quality care continuity. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. In these programs, students are given a certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX and should submit this certification to VA prior to appointment. Students do not earn a BSN, but receive a MSN degree upon completion of course work. A copy of the MSN transcript must be provided to VA. Bridge programs that confer a master's degree also fully meet the education requirement, even though a Bachelor's Degree is not awarded. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active, and unrestricted registration (see paragraph 2a(3)) will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Nurse Practitioners. A nurse practitioner must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State, possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE, and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. The incumbent who provides care in home settings or other off-site locations may be required to drive and/or ride in GSA-vehicles.
