The Marion, Illinois VA Health Care System is looking for an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Marion, Illinois Primary Care teams. The incumbent serves as an assistant with line authority to the Nurse Manager and providing leadership and direction to nursing staff, and other staff under supervision of the Nurse Manager. He/she is accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care and standards of practice; demonstrating leadership in improving nursing care; and the administration, management, supervision, and evaluation of both nursing care and nursing personnel on his or her designated unit. Demonstrates, promotes, creates and ensures a culturally diverse workforce in which the values in the needs of all individuals are respected. Also, provides an environment that fosters employees to perform to their full individual potential. Must have sound interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, staff members, and all internal and external customers. The Assistant Nurse Manager responsibilities include demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate and maintain care appropriate to the age-related needs of patients served. This includes understanding changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to adult and geriatric population. This assistant nurse manager must be flexible in assisting in covering all Nursing Service staff as needed to carry out the daily workload, including other duties such as making daily assignments, time keeping, time and leave approval/denials and other administrative duties assigned. This assistant nurse manager will cover for the nurse manager during times of leave. PLEASE NOTE:
This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications. If selected, Applicant will provide proof of current certification prior to employment. Only BLS certification which included Automated External Defibrillator (AED) obtained from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Military Treatment Training Network (MTN) will be accepted. The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
